Statement Of Faith

This is what we believe as a Become Love Church community, as followers of Jesus Christ:

We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God.
John 6:63 and 16:13; 1 Thessalonians 2:13; 2 Timothy 3:15–17; and 2 Peter 1:21

We believe there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 43:10; Matthew 28:19; Luke 3:22; and John 14:16

We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ.
Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1, 1:14; Matthew 16:13–20; Mark 8:27–30; Luke 9:18–21; Philippians 2:6–11; and Colossians 2:9

We believe in Jesus Christ’s miraculous birth and sinless life.
Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:18; Luke 1:34–35; Hebrews 4:15 and 7:26–27; 1 Peter 2:22; and 1 John 3:5

We believe that Jesus Christ performed miracles, and we believe in Jesus Christ’s statement that “whoever
believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these ...” (John 14:12, ESV).
Matthew 4:23; Luke 6:17–19; and John 3:2 and 21:25

We believe in Jesus Christ’s bodily resurrection, after his atoning death by crucifixion, and we believe in his ascension to the right hand of the Father.
Matthew 27:32–28:10; Luke 24:4–7; Acts 2:33 and 5:30–31; 1 Corinthians 15:3–4; 1 Peter 3:22; and Revelation 1:17–18

We believe in the personal return of Jesus Christ, in power and glory.
Acts 1:11; Philippians 2:9–11; and 1 Thessalonians 1:10 and 4:13–18

We believe that justification by faith in the atonement of Jesus Christ, along with regeneration by Holy Spirit, is essential for salvation.
John 3:3–7; Acts 4:12; Romans 3:24–25; 1 Corinthians 6:11; Ephesians 2:1–16; 1 John 5:11–13; and Revelation 5:9

We believe in the real and present ministry of Holy Spirit. This includes baptism in Holy Spirit, as distinct from regeneration; the indwelling of Holy Spirit; and the supernatural gifting and empowering of Holy Spirit.
Luke 24:49; Acts 1:4–8, 2:1–4, and 10:44–46; and 1 Corinthians 12:1–11 and 14:1–25

We believe in the ordinances of Baptism and the Lord’s Supper.
Matthew 3:13–17 and 26:26–29; Acts 2:41–42; 1 Corinthians 11:23–26; and Ephesians 1:22–23

We believe that God is love, and we believe that out of an intimate relationship with God, empowered by Holy Spirit, through the love of Jesus Christ, holiness flows.  And we believe that "holiness is not some lofty experience ... but it is rather a lowly experience, which lowly people in the lowly walks of life can share with Jesus, by letting his mind be in them" (Samuel Brengel, Helps to Holiness, 1896).
Philippians 2:1–11; 1 John 4:7–21

We believe that true religion is simple. We believe that "religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world" (James 1:27, ESV).

Finally, we believe that our mission, as local Christian churches, is to become love. And we believe that we can best accomplish this by carrying on the ministry of Jesus Christ, as his followers. Furthermore, we believe in further advancing God’s kingdom, functioning under the sovereignty of Jesus Christ, and living out the good news of the love of God, exactly as Jesus commissioned his followers to do.
Matthew 10:5–42 and 28:16–20; Mark 16:14–20; and Acts 1:8 and 2:41–47; 1 Corinthians 12:12–31; and Ephesians 1:22–23
